Cage Fight vs. Cock Fight

You may have heard more than a few people report that cage fighting is as brutal as cock fighting. Well, I

just returned from Mexico where cock fighting happens in just about every back yard. Let me tell you it's

nothing like cage fighting.

An uncle of mine who raises game cocks specifically for fighting took me to a few cock fights. I got a front

row view on how these matches take place. As I watched, I thought to myself who would ever in their right

mind compare a cage fight to a cock fight.

As you probably know, it's the same people who have never taken the time and effort to actually witness a

full NHB event live. But time and time again, you hear and see these same people screaming there lungs

out to smash the quarterback. Do I smell a little hypocrisy here?

Here are some of the things I noticed that were different between cock fighting and cage fighting for all you

folks who think the two are alike:

- A game cock is raised specifically for fighting. A cage fighter makes that choice.

- A game cock is thrown into a fight - either it fights or it dies. If it refuses to fight, its own owner will kill it.

The reason being he loses a substantial amount of money.

- A fighter is not thrown into the cage. He walks in under his own will. He has the option to tap whenever he

feels he is in any danger.

- And obviously, a cage fight will not go to the death as do cock fights.

- A Fighter's trainer is not going to kill him if he loses or taps.

- A game cock does not have trainers to show it how to move, what to avoid and how to control the

  situation.  A fighter does.

- A game cock is fighting with a razor blade tied to its leg.

- No weapons of any kind are allowed in any type of NHB fighting whether in a cage or not.

These are just some small points that I noticed. And maybe the people who didn't see these points should

witness both live and then and only then should comment on them.

Back from Mexico,

Al
